Janet Talmadge has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 1994. Janet breastfed all four of her own children and led a breastfeeding support group for 15 years. Janet has completed many hours of continuing education to give her a firm foundation in the various aspects of breastfeeding problem-solving. Since becoming certified, Janet has enabled hundreds of mothers to achieve their breastfeeding goals and get their babies off to the best possible start in life.

Janet feels that the answer to breastfeeding challenges is seldom a bottle of formula. The best solution is caring, professional support from someone knowledgeable about breastfeeding. Janet does this in a variety of ways, from teaching prenatal breastfeeding classes to helping new mothers and babies learn to breastfeed in the privacy and convenience of their home. Janet also offers office visits for moms and babies who are mobile and able to get out on their own.

Home Visit: Janet offers a service which is rarely available from healthcare providers today. At a time when a new mother should resting, recovering from childbirth and bonding with her baby, Janet will provide her caring and compassionate services in the comfort of your home. She will assess your individual situation and provide you with the answers and guidance you need. The charge for a home visit is $175 and up (depending on how far Janet has to travel).

Office Visit: Janet provides the same caring attention to your needs in her office. This provides a more economical option for many new parents. The charge for an initial office visit is $120. The charge for a followup visit is $60. To address issues that arise later during breastfeeding, Janet will provide phone consultations to established clients for a charge of $30.

Janet’s compassion and caring for the nursing couple is unsurpassed in this area. Janet typically spends 2 hours with a new mother and baby during an initial consultation. During a consultation, Janet welcomes the presence and support of a husband, grandmother or other significant support person! Occasionally, Janet sees the need for one or two follow-up office visits, but most of the time breastfeeding problems can be corrected with just one visit. Janet normally makes several follow-up phone calls with a client to make sure any additional questions get answered and that breastfeeding continues to go well.

Janet has enabled women to breastfeed through many challenges including difficult latch-on, sore nipples, nipple yeast and thrush, engorgement, slow weight gain, jaundice, returning to work, prematurity, breast infection (mastitis), sucking problems, twins and more.

Janet’s office is located in Naperville, Illinois and her services are available to anyone in Naperville and the surrounding communities. This includes, but is not limited to, Naperville, Lisle, Aurora, Oswego, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Downers Grove, Plainfield, Warrenville, Woodridge and Wheaton.
